Year of the Snake — Laminyx
Year of the Snake — Laminyx is the second object from Lamina (@studiolamina), an ongoing collaboration between artist James Jean and master printmaker Brad Keech.
This edition is encased in a custom, hand-finished frame designed to house a printed acrylic panel that reveals intricate red foil lines suspended between layers of opacity and light. The optical depth of the acrylic saturates the image, while the luminous foil beneath creates a striking parallax effect, a first in the decades-long partnership between Jean and Keech.
The sculpted frame features three sinuous grooves, echoing the three entwined serpents within the image. It is stained in a rich black finish that enhances the natural wood grain, connecting technical precision with organic texture.
A signed, embossed certificate of authenticity is embedded into the reverse side, housed behind an aluminum plate. This artwork is a precision-crafted relic of transformation, marking the return of the Year of the Snake.
Year of the Snake — Laminyx will be released on Tuesday, July 15 at 8:00 a.m. PT. Twenty-five pieces of the full edition of thirty will be available at this time on a first-come, first-served basis.
